Local Dining Out Group October Dinner

We will be dining at The Burley Inn, The Cross, Burley, Ringwood BH24 4AB


The Burley Inn is a short drive from historic places such as Rufus Stone, Beaulieu Abbey (and motor museum) and Buckler’s Hard. Not only was Burley on the main smuggling route from the port to the south, but also has a historic connection with witches (as the local shops demonstrate) indeed it was as recent as 1950 that Sybil Leek, a self-confessed white witch lived in the village. She was often seen walking around the village in a long, black cloak with her pet jackdaw resting on her shoulder. Unfortunately, because her attire fitted the image of a wicked ‘black’ witch, the locals were upset by her presence and she decided to live in America where she continued writing many books on the occult and astrology, including “Diary of a Witch”. One of the gift shops was named by her and has her picture hanging by the old Jacobean fireplace inside.

Local Dining Out Group Monthly Charity Raffle:


On Wednesday 17th October we will be supporting the local charity Downton4Family with our monthly raffle.

About "Downton4Family"

Downton 4 Family is a Downton based charity established in 2017 to work with families in our community who are experiencing challenging times. We work in Downton and the surrounding villages by providing volunteer Family Mentors to support everyone in the family and show them there is a chance that things can be different both now and in the future. 

We work with families where there is a child under the age of 18 to help them with a wide range of complex and challenging needs. Our services are free and confidential and we emphasise that we recognise the challenges of family life and know that all families have their not-so-good days.

Having successfully launched the charity we are now working with families and starting to establish our name. We have many exciting plans for keeping up the work and developing it into new areas as we get to understand the needs of our community. There is much to be done and we are grateful for your interest in our work. 



Your ticket for our October 2018 dinner will cost £28.00 per person.
(This includes your travel to the restaurant, a Two Course Dinner and tips for our driver and the restaurant staff)

Booking Cut-Off Time

We need to receive your booking, menu choices and payment by early evening on:
Wednesday 10th October 2018
Please try not to leave it until this date as we may be fully booked.


Tickets will be allocated on a first booked and paid basis.
It may be necessary to return bookings if received after we have sold out. It would be a good idea to enquire first before sending
your booking/payment the nearer we get to the 10th October 2018
(If tickets remain unsold, later bookings may be accepted depending upon how near we are to the 10th October and whether the restaurant will
accept more bookings.)

IMPORTANT: We cannot guarantee any refunds for late cancellations, after the 10th October, unless we have diners on a waiting list
who will not only take the place but also the menu choices you made.

Coach Pickup Points:

We have arranged the following pickup points on the evening. We hope these will be near to most peoples houses.
Some times and pickup points may be added or removed according to who is coming on the evening.


The above times are estimates. Please try to be at your pickup point 5 minutes before the listed time as we are often ahead of time.
Can you please make sure that we have your mobile phone number when booking and that you have your phone with you and
switched on once you have left your house. We will make our contact phone number available to you in case of emergency.
